Borrowing
Students can borrow up to six books for four weeks at a time, and renew them three times (maximum 16 weeks) as long as no one else has reserved them.
Staff and research students can borrow up to 12 books for four weeks at a time.
Renewals
Items can be renewed (as long as they are not overdue):
Fines are payable on overdue items so please return or renew on time. Further borrowing will only be allowed once fines are settled in full. You will be asked to pay the replacement cost for lost items.
Inter-Library Loans
If you cannot find the item you require in the library, it may be possible to borrow it from another library, either a UHI Millennium Institute partner (free service) or from the British Library or other national inter-lending schemes. Please ask library staff about this service, but bear in mind that there may be a charge to obtain items from outwith the UHI Millennium Institute partnership.
Study Facilities
A range of accommodation is available including a dedicated area for silent study, group study areas and comfortable low seating.
The Learning Café offers a relaxing environment where you can buy Costa coffee and snacks, and hook up to the college wireless network on library laptops, or on your personal laptop.
Resources
We hold a wide range of books, CDs, audio and video cassettes, journals and newspapers for loan and reference. A number of online resources including full text journals and index and abstract services are available.
Materials in the library are recorded on a computerised catalogue. This system offers many features and allows access to the holdings of other libraries/learning resources centres in the UHI Millennium Institute partnership.
You can login to your own library account and renew books, reserve books, change your contact details and suggest books you think we should buy.
Other Services
A self-service photocopier is available for use in the library. You can purchase a copy card from the Issues/Returns Desk to operate the machine.
Laminating and binding facilities, and scanning services are also available in the library. Colour printing and binding services are offered by our Reprographics Unit.
