- Post Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture, Leeds Metropolitan University
- BSc (Hons) in Landscape Design and Plant Science, University of Sheffield
Current Research Activities
Clive is the international project coordinator for the Clim-ATIC project.
Clim-ATIC is a three year, 2.4 Euro millions, international project that has been awarded project funding of 60% by the European Commission's Northern Periphery Programme.
This project will involve community stakeholders working in partnership with public sector and academic institutions, from Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Greenland and Finland, to explore the potential for different community sectors to develop adaptation capacity, and deliver real adaptations that will provide local economic and social advantages.
Previous Research Activities and Professional Experience
Clive Joined the Centre for Mountain Studies (CMS) in 2005 to work on the SpatialNorth Project.
The main objective of SpatialNorth (also funded through the Northern Periphery Programme, Interreg IIIB) was to establish a trans-national network between Iceland, Sweden, Finland and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, to exchange knowledge on spatial planning and development.
The culmination of the project was a comprehensive database/toolbox of good practice spatial planning examples and guidelines.
Prior to joining the CMS, Clive practiced as a Landscape Architect for 15 years in both the private and public sector, in Norwich, Kuala Lumpa, Huddersfield, and in Perth and Kinross. He has worked on a wide range of urban and rural design projects, and strategic land use plans throughout his career and has particular experience in the use of participatory consultation.
Additional responsibilities
Clive represents Perth College UHI on the Perth and Kinross Community Planning Partnership. He is also involved in a number of community organisations and initiatives, in his role as chair of Alyth Environmental Group and the Alyth Climate Action Town project.
He is a committee member of the Drumderg Community Windfarm Fund.
