Northern Periphery Programme Preparatory Project : Climate Change - Adapting to the Impacts by Communities in Northern Peripheral Regions (CLIM-ATIC)
This was a preparatory project, funded through the European Commission's Northern Periphery Programme. Its aim was to establish a transnational network within the peripheral regions of northern Europe, in order to develop a new multi-partner main project that would focus on:
- The potential impacts of climate change on small peripheral rural communities
- How these communities could adapt to avoid or reduce the negative impacts of climate change, while taking advantage of opportunities.
The preparatory project was initiated and coordinated by Clive Bowman of CMS, and ran from January 2007 until October 2007.The preparatory project involved four international regions; Scotland, Iceland, Finland and Sweden, and developed a well considered and ambitious main project application that also included Greenland and Norway, and was submitted in October 2007.
It received approval for 2.35 Million Euro of funding in December 2007 and began in March 2008. For more information, visit the Clim-ATIC website.
