This section covers those functions within Perth College UHI which provide access to information for the student body and both academic and administrative staff. These include libraries, computing services, archive services, and information support services.
Such functions may be managed separately from each other, or in various combinations. These services routinely explain their facilities (and the conditions of their use) to students, staff and the general public and it is information of this nature that is included within this section.
In some instances information will be exempt from disclosure where it contains personal information, or information which, if released, may substantially prejudice the commercial interests of any person, endanger the physical or mental health or the safety of an individual, substantially prejudice the effective conduct of public affairs, or constitute an actionable breach of confidence.
Library facilities
Users of the Learning Resource Centre must abide by our Code of Behaviour and follow the Acceptable Use Policy when accessing computers and other College equipment. Tailored library services for students with additional support requirements are also available. The service is primarily aimed at staff and students of Perth College UHI, however membership can be extended to others in line with our External Users Policy.
Computing facilities
Information on availability, opening hours and conditions of use of computing facilities can be found on the library pages of the College web site. Staff and students must follow the College's Acceptable Use Policy when using computer equipment. College equipment is protected through the use of CCTV and webcams are in operation in ICT areas. Monitoring and filtering software may also be used to assist in ensuring compliance with JANET regulations and the Acceptable Use Policy. An email Policy is in operation. The College's policy on Data Protection is observed at all times.
Collections
An online public access catalogue to library holdings can be found on the College web pages. This is a union catalogue detailing the resources held within all partners of UHI Millennium Institute. Perth College UHI holdings can be viewed by restricting any searches to 'items held at Perth College'.
