Free management training for small businesses
We work to develop management skills among small business owner managers, those considering starting up a business, people new to management in small and medium sized enterprises, and those with managerial posts in social enterprise.
We recognise that it’s important to nurture innovation and enterprise in the workplace, and we’re here to help managers by introducing them to models of success and providing courses that will allow them, in easy steps, to grow their management skills.
We offer free management training courses to the business community and our students, giving attendees the opportunity to earn both the Chartered Management Institute Introductory Certificate in Management and the Chartered Management Institute Certificate in Management, both of which open up a progression route that can ultimately lead to an MBA at Napier University.
Promoting entrepreneurial activity
We are working to pro-actively promote and assist in entrepreneurial activity within both our student body and the wider community.
We are building relationships with local businesses to help encourage an ongoing culture of innovation, as well as to offer our students opportunities to gain hands-on experience within existing business structures.
Our strong ties with Scottish industry provide us with firm contextualised direction so that our students and the local business community benefit from the very latest in business thinking.
Our activities include:
- Research to identify good practice in business start-up initiatives, particularly in other countries where education institutions and other agencies have worked together successfully to stimulate entrepreneurship and business birth rates
- Awareness raising activities including networking events and opportunities
- Technical training assistance through mentoring and practical support in business planning, market research and marketing
- Facilitation of new peer and mentoring networks
